This practical hands-on workshop explores how large language models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude can help with everyday tasks (ex: writing a letter disputing a bill), community projects (ex: creating an agenda for your HOA meeting, or a spreadsheet to help manage a budget), and creative ideas (ex: building a website to promote your artwork). Learn how to write effective letters, organize events, solve real-world problems, and even create simple websites or spreadsheets using plain English. 

Designed especially for those who are curious but cautious about AI, this session focuses on what AI is, what it isn't, and how to use it confidently as a creative helper rather than a search engine. The real skill is knowing what to bring to AI and what to do with what comes back—and that's exactly what this session will teach. No technical experience required.  

Bring your smartphone, tablet or computer for hands-on learning. There will be plenty of time for Q&A.

About this dynamic presenter: Paul Gilson is a finance professor at the University of New Hampshire's Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics, where he directs the finance major. He came to UNH four years ago from the University of Connecticut. Earlier in his career he trained as an accountant at KPMG in London and Atlanta before earning a PhD in mathematical finance. A lot of his work now is about AI - not the hype, but the practical question of how the rest of us can use it to make daily life easier without handing over more than we should. He also hosts "Button Factory Soundcheck," a post-punk and new wave show, on WSCA 106.1 FM.
